A rewarding adventure safari through Northern Botswana, ending in Victoria Falls.

This is a mobile camping safari into one of Botswana’s most famous wildlife destinations, the Okavango Delta, with an additional safari into the lesser known, but equally exciting Moremi Game Reserve neighboring with Khwaii Development Trust. Reserve.

Day 1 2 3 - Okavango Delta

On your arrival at Maun International Airport, you will be met by Afro Trek Safaris representative then the briefing of your safari into the delta will take place.

The safari commences with a power boat from Maun to Chief’s Island and the journey will take approximately 4 hours of meanandering across the Okavango Delta. You will camp in the heart of the Okavango Delta at chief’s Island which is also a part of the Moremi Game Reserve. On arrival at the safari camp, refreshment will be served followed by a leisurely mokoro trail, this will depend on your arrival time, that is, if your arrival at the camp will be after 1500hrs, then the mokoro trail will be transferred to the next day.

The mokoro is the prime transportation means for the Bayei, Hambukusu, Lozi and Basubia tribes whilst in the Okavango Delta and Chobe river system and are still used to deliver building materials such as thatching reeds for huts, reeds for strengthening the walls and poles which support the entire house. The versatility of the mokoro enables them to be used for hunting, collecting fire wood, fishing and for visiting friends and relatives in neighboring villages.

This is one of the unique safari activities available in the Okavango Delta. The mokoro offers an ideal way in providing close-up and personal game viewing opportunities Okavango channels, allowing you to get close to the game in their natural habitats without disturbing them. Game viewing and birding are excellent in the reserve.

Other safari activities in the Delta include guided walks on the Island .

After an afternoon guided bush walk, we return back to the safari camp dinner is served between 1930 hrs to 2000hrs, followed by the campfire which provides a magical setting after dinner to reflect on the day’s events and experiences.

The beautiful Botswana clear night skies and sounds of the reserve offer a delightful end to the day.

DAY 4 - Maun

On this day our departure from the Island will be around 1000 hrs, arriving in Maun for relaxation, or maybe engage into extra activities such as scenic flight, a visit to a cultural village etc.

DAY 5 6 7 - Moremi / Khwaii

We depart around 0700 hours in an Afro Trek Safaris customized safari vehicle for the Khwai Development Trust.

The Khwaii Reserve shares a boundary with the more famous Moremi Game Reserve and is in the north-eastern region of the Okavango Delta. The Trust benefits from the wildlife in the Okavango Delta and Moremi’Game Reserve which roams freely through the Khwaii Reserve.

Four out of the Big 5 can be observed here: lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant.

A wide variety of game can be seen in this area including impala, zebra, giraffe, warthog and kudu.

DAY 8 : Chobe National Park

After an early breakfast, we depart around 0700hrs heading through Savute and into the Chobe National Park.

On arrival in Kasane, we check into the Chobe Safari Lodge, situated on the banks of the Chobe River, where in the late afternoon we take a sunset cruise on the Chobe River, which often presents an opportunity to view abundant wildlife and also to witness elephants crossing the Chobe River into the Caprivi Strip leading each other by the tail in their unique manner. DAY 9 -11 : Victoria falls

The magnificent Victoria Falls “Mosi O Tunya”, “The smoke that thunders”, is one of the seven wonders of the world and always lives up to expectations.

Victoria Falls offers many interesting locations which can be visited and many activities can be undertaken. such as white water rafting,bungi jumping, an elephant back safari, an aircraft or helicopter flight over the falls, a boat cruise on the Zambezi River, or a visit to a tribal village, the big tree or the curio market not forgetting the crocodile farm.

Three nights in Victoria Falls in one of the comfortable lodges, on a dinner, bed &, breakfast basis. Dinner on two of the nights, will be taken in local restaurants in the Falls (Own expense) this will give our guests a feel for the African night listening to the sound generated by the falls as it thunders from a distance.

Day 12 : Victoria Falls – End of the Safari.
